The Complete Programme of Master Classes and Meetings
New forms of cinema going, music and films, film restorations, film advertising and the art of silent filmmaking all feature on the programme of meetings and master classes at Lumière 2011.
Wednesday 5th October
11 a.m. – 1 p.m. Meeting with Amateur bloggers.
Lumière 2011 has invited five amateur bloggers amongst the most active of their kind to raise questions on these new forms of film criticism and, on a wider scale, the upheaval in our relationship with cinema brought about by the general use of the Internet. This public meeting will give them the opportunity to talk about their practices and compare experiences.

2.30 p.m. – 4.15 p.m. A Tribute to Kevin Brownlow
Kevin Brownlow, specialist in silent films and film restorer and author of The Parade’s Gone By, the authoritative work on silent cinema and its protagonists to be published by the Lumière Institute in November, will meet the public in a master class led by Bertrand Tavernier.

5 p.m. – 6 p.m. Warner’s DVD Policy – a Meeting with Ned Price
Warner Home Video’s invention of DVD’s 15 years ago, revolutionized cinema fans’ behaviour. Ned Price, director of Warner, will present his experience of updating and disseminating our film heritage within Warner Bros. Location – to be advised.

6.30 p.m. Film Concert Preview by Séverine Abhervé with conductor Ernst Van Tiel
An hour before the beginning of the film concert The Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse, do not miss this rendezvous in the Bas Atrium for a thirty minute meeting-conference presentation that will enable you to better understand the concert.

Tuesday 6th October
11 a.m. Master Class on Jacques Becker Film Restoration by Gaumont.
Gaumont has restored three Jacques Becker films, which will be presented at Lumière 2011. André Labbouz from Gaumont and Ronald Boullet from the Eclair Laboratory will present this work to the public from the original negatives.

4.30 p.m. – 6 p.m: A Meeting between Amateur and Professional Bloggers
In the presence of
Thomas Sotinel, Edouard Waintrop and Aurélien Ferenczi.
The five guest amateur bloggers at Lumière 2011 will compare their experiences with those of the professional bloggers Edouad Waintrop, Aurélien Ferenczi and Thomas Sotinel.

16.30 p.m. Conference and Visit with Stanislas Choko
Stanislas Choki, specialist in the history of film advertising, will lead a conference and visit to the Musée des Moulages exhibition “Just before the film … A Poster Collection.”

This exhibition will be open throughout the entire festival, presenting a selection of original posters from the Lumière Institute’s collections.
